About this event

This workshop is for ADMP UK members working towards full clinical membership with UKCP.

Module 2: Diversity is a compulsory module.

Participants can expect to cover topics including:

  • Assumptions relating to the diversity of human experience
  • Understanding how one’s own ‘body politics’ impact on the therapeutic relationship
  • Cultivating a sensitivity towards cultural, ethnic, gender, sexual diversity and physical disability, specific learning/intellectual difference and socio-economic diversity
  • Examining how to assess and plan for interventions with these issues in mind
  • Understanding of the ethical and wider socio-political implication of these issues within the psychotherapy process
  • Reflecting on one’s assumptions and prejudices on the themes of privilege and power in relation to the themes of (for example) cultural, ethnic, gender, sexual diversity and physical disability, specific learning differences, intellectual difference and socio-economic diversity
  • Developing a ‘diversity-minded’ approach to one’s practice
  • Exploring unconscious bias

The handicap session will be taught via Zoom across Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-5pm each day.
