Reflecting on the stories we live as patients and caregivers.

About this event

The Stories We Live: A Virtual Narrative Medicine Mini-Retreat

Narrative medicine is the practice of reflecting on the stories we live. How we tell these stories can leave us feeling helpless or can endow us with clarity, power, and purpose. Doing this work – of reflecting and potentially recomposing how we're telling our stories and our experiences – in community expands our perspectives and deepens our compassion.

No experience necessary! You do not need to be a writer to join this class.

Program Schedule of this disability events:

Saturday, July 9th, 1:00-4:00 pm EST (3 hours)

Join us for an afternoon to connect with yourself and others living with illness, disability, or as caregivers. This is an invitation into the healing creativity that lies within us. We will practice mindfulness, closely look at visual art, read poetry, respond to writing prompts, and share our reflections in partner and group discussions. Our exploration will encompass three themes: The Beginning, The Now, and What Lies Ahead. The mini-retreat schedule is as follows:

  • 1:00-2:20 pm EST
  • 15-minute break
  • 2:35-4:00 pm EST

Please note:

This is a live online program but we know that health is unpredictable. With that in mind, we plan to record the session and distribute it solely to those who enrolled. We encourage you to register, even if you may not be able to attend live.

Registration is limited to 40 individuals.
