This group will meet monthly for caregivers of children and adults ages 5-75 with severe autism to seek support, discuss challenges, and share resources. If your child meets most of the criteria below, this group may be a fit for you:
• Has limited or no vocal language or communication system. Not using sentences to communicate (single words, brief phrases, or no words at all). May only use pointing, guiding, or helping themselves to get needs met.
• Functioning more than 3 years behind same-age peers across multiple areas. IQ below 69.
• Needs assistance or prompting with multiple activities of daily living (beyond what would be expected for their age).
• Has intense physically aggressive or self-injurious behavior.
• Requires continuous supervision for safety (beyond what would be expected for their age).
• Unable to complete employment tasks without one on one assistance.
Requires multiple supports, modified materials, and a very small group or one to one assistance to learn new information/skills.
