All adults at risk of harm have the right to be safe and protected. The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is designed to protect those adults who are unable to safeguard their own interests and are at risk of harm because they are affected by:
disability; mental disorder; illness; physical or mental infirmity.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognise an adult who may be vulnerable to being abused (an ‘adult at risk’)
• Recognise evidence and indicators of abuse
• Recognise factors which may increase the risk of abuse
• Know how to report concerns about abuse using appropriate systems
• Work in a manner that minimises the risk of adults at risk being abused
