About this disability events
Hello, welcome! Please join us for Disability Dialogues Book Club!
Our handicap events meetings are now hybrid events, which means you can tune in virtually to meetings in real-time while they take place at the Yarborough Branch of Austin Public Library. The meetings take place from 3 pm - 4 pm on the last Saturday of each month through October 2023. The November/December 2023 dates are TBD, due to the holidays. (Dates will be determined as we get closer to November.)
FYI: You do NOT have to read the book to come to book club! Anyone who is interested in the topic of Disability Justice is enthusiastically encouraged to attend. However, the books we've got planned for the rest of the year are definitely worth reading:
7/29 - Health Communism - by Beatrice Adler-Bolton
8/26 - The Body Is Not An Apology - by Sonya Renee Taylor
9/30 - Rest is Resistance - by Tricia Hersey
10/28 - What Can a Body Do?: How We Meet the Built World - by Sara Hendren
11/TBD - Decarcerating Disability: Deinstitutionalization and Prison Abolition - by Liat Ben-Moshe
12/TBD - Disfigured: On Fairy Tales, Disability, and Making Space - by Amanda Leduc
Register on Eventbrite by the Friday before the meeting; we'll send the link to the video call out that evening. We hope to see you there!
