Disability Arts Week is a celebration of artists with disabilities and their important and unique contributions to the art world. All workshops are specifically designed to be accessible to neurodivergent folks and folks with intellectual disabilities. All are welcomed and encouraged in this space. We welcome folks of all abilities, of all life experiences, literacy levels and verbal as well as non-verbal communicators. If you don't identify as having a disability you are also welcome. Recommended for ages 13+
ABOUT OPHIRA
Ophira Calof (She/They) is a multi award winning Disabled writer, performer, and producer. Her work weaves together music, comedy, and storytelling, centering disability and chronic illness experience. They co-created the sketch comedy revue Generally Hospital and her solo show, Literally Titanium premiered at the 2020 Next Stage Theatre Festival. Ophira also works as a curator, educator, consultant, and keynote speaker with projects including COVID-19 through a Disability Lens: Storytelling and Filmmaking Project, Myseum Toronto's Making Space: Stories of Disabled Youth in the GTA, and Bad Dog Theatre’s 5th annual Our Cities On Our Stages Symposium.
ABOUT THE HANDICAP SESSION OR WORKSHOP
There often isn't a lot of space to explore the different ways to portray a character, particularly when you have certain access needs or move/communicate in very specific ways. This workshop will explore different ways to find and develop characters with an emphasis on using the tools that work for you.

Ophira will be joining us virtually (via zoom) for this workshop.
All tickets are for virtual only, to join on zoom from home. You are welcome to have a support staff, friend or family member with you free of charge. These tickets are offered on a sliding scale of pricing to accommodate financial barriers. We are a non-profit however and compensating the professional artists for their work so if is within your means to support us please consider opting for a higher tier ticket price.
