As we celebrate the passage of the American with Disabilities Act 32 years ago, we recognize how far we've come but how far we have to go in our fight for disability rights. Particularly incorporating a racial justice lens in our advocacy to ensure those who live at the margins are included in our broader fight for disability justice. This year, Disability Rights Maryland and Black Girls Vote are teaming up to highlight the experiences of Black women with disabilities through a workshop based on the 4 Pillars of Black Girls Vote: Advancing education, economic advancement, equitable & quality health care and of course, voting. We are privileged to have disability champions and experts, Keri Gray and Vilissa Thompson lead our workshops as we explore how disabled Black women and girls are affected in education, health care, economics and voting. It is our hope this workshop will offer our disabled Black women and girls space to be heard, seen and affirmed and for the wider disability community to recognize the reality disabled Black women and girls face and to fold them into wider disability advocacy and justice.
